Welcome to the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics has 100 employees - including teachers/researchers, and Phd. Students, as well as administrative and technical staff. Teaching is under the auspices of the Institute of Technology, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Educational Sciences. Research undertaken within the Institute ranges over a wide spectrum from pure mathematics and scientifically generated approaches to applications within the fields of technology, science and economics. The department comprises four different subject areas: Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Optimization and Scientific Computing.

Dissertation in Scientific Computing

Zohreh Ranjbar defends her thesis Numerical Solution of Ill-posed Cauchy Problems for Parabolic Equations on Monday March 29, at 13.15 in C3, C-building. Opponent is Professor Per Christian Hansen, Technical University of Denmark.

Vacant Position

The Department of Mathematics advertises for "Graduate student in the Didactics of Mathematics" and "Senior Lecturer in the Didactics of Mathematics".

Workshop Inverse Problems and Applications

Inverse Problems and Applications (IPA) May 3, 2010 at ITN, Campus Norrköping, Linköping University. The workshop is co-organized by the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) , and the Department of Mathematics (MAI) at Linköping University.
