Born 1939 in Sweden. Swedish father, Norwegian mother.

After high school in Falun, studies at Uppsala University: mathematics, mechanics, physics. Ph.D. in mathematics 1967 in Uppsala; advisor Lennart Carleson. Title of the thesis: Minimax Problems for some Nonlinear Differential Operators.

Employments at five Swedish universities, in the order: Uppsala, Umeå, Göteborg, Luleå, Linköping. Professor of applied mathematics at Luleå Technological University 1981-1987. Professor of applied mathematics at Linköping University 1988-2006. (Professor Emeritus, Linköping, from 2007.)
