About me

I'm a Senior Lecturer (universitetslektor & docent) at the Department of Mathematics (MAI), Linköping University, Sweden.

Research

I work in an area of mathematics called integrable systems; here's a brief summary of my research. Very roughly speaking, an integrable system is a system of differential equations that can be solved exactly with analytical methods. From time to time, there are Integrable systems seminars here at our department.

Research highlights

Here's a selection of a few interesting things that I've come across in my research. Follow the links for explanations, movies of peakons, etc.

The explicit n-peakon solution formula for the Degasperis–Procesi equation.
Shockpeakon solutions of the Degasperis–Procesi equation.
The cubic string. An interesting non-selfadjoint third-order spectral problem.
The Canada Day theorem. A curious identity satisfied by the minors of a symmetric matrix.
And some classical mechanics: the concept of (bi-)cofactor systems, including the "2 implies n" theorem and the multiplication theorem for bi-cofactor systems.

Teaching

I enjoy teaching, and I have plenty of teaching experience from most of the subjects offered by our department at the undergraduate level (calculus, linear algebra, vector calculus, complex analysis, transform theory, discrete mathematics, mathematical biology, applied mathematics, etc.).
